Ramussen’s Experiencing Architecture

All of constructs will be seen their outer shapes when people look at buildings from far away and they can be resembled like sculpture.However there are plenty of things that are really different between architects and sculptors.Sculpture can reflect the decades that it was done and also buildings too yet, the one thing that is helpful to differentiate from each other is accessible to public.This means that buildings are using from people and are made to fulfill for public’s necessities which is office,hospital or airport etc. However, sculptures are just result of an artist’s emotions and they can not response effectively for these necessities.

Sculptures are not be clear for everyone that look at them.The reason for this is, there can be different interpretations of sculptures.However, everything must be legible in architecture.There are some architect’s decision that is about how building is making and there should be a language that everything can be clear.This means that everyone are not be able to interpret from different ways.Artchitects think the necessities and the situations that people will have.After these actors , design can be effective and fulfill for all needs of people.While architects are doing that, they should try to reflect some characteristic features of the decade that they are in.The reason for this is that If they do not pay attention to reflect them ,the buildings are going to be absurd and disturbing.

Getting the characteristic features of the decades is one of the factors which Succesful architect should think on that.One of the other factor is that the building are able to use for the main purpose of people.Buildings are constructing to fulfill some needs of people and If they can not do, they are just meaningless gigantic concrete.The buildings that were made to be solution of problems and needs of people have characteristic soul and this soul reflects on people who works in there.This means that we imagine that there should be skyscraper for financial centre.If architect knows about which is necessities of financial centre and people needs such as, medical things,entertainments and nutrients, architect does the design according to these more than factors.As a result of this design is in promising.

The characteristic soul can be identified with their colour, form , material and the main purpose of use.When we did that financial centre, If architect can get the harmony and find relation of these colours ,forms and materials with idea of financial centre and also include main purpose of use, architect gives a characteristic soul to the building.People can understand this characteristic soul of the building when they entered the building and feel like they in there.This means, these feeling must be imposed when people in there.

Overall, our architects do not just plan to put column, walls, windows or doors.But also we design many spaces that people can use unconsciously. We also make a decision which kind of  emotion people can feel when they are in or how much they are going to feel it.

 

Axonometric Drawing

With axonometric drawing that is another type of technical drawing, we faced with 3D qualities for the first time. After the orthographic and section drawings, using 3D qualities was different and enthusiastic experience for us because of discovering new relations that we could not realise in the orthographic and section drawings. That’s why, axonometric drawing is suitable and beneficial presentation way to explain your main ideas and strategies for jury members and others. For instance, to coloured some part of the axonometric drawing is so efficient to introduce your approaching. On the other hand, during the axonometric drawing, analysing the geometry that appears is giving you funny, delightful and satisfying feeling in terms of creativity because you are able to feel like that you are building that object on the paper. Of course when you draw, you are going to catch my phrase.

Polyrhythm and Grid

In this assignment, we were expected to produce a grid but It should include polyrhythm in itself.In first, all about it depends on your interpretation about the polyrhythm. My interpretation on polyrhythm is there are two ordered  repetitive elements or units and these order also different from each other. One of these ordered elements create a differences while it is creating harmony with the other ordered one.

Maybe explaining on the example can be more beneficial for you. For example, 4-3.It means that one units or elements repeat 4 time, the other units repeat 3 and they have common moment that is repeated. Within this common moment you can realize the harmony between them and also because of the count of repeat , it creates a differences. Polyrhythm also is relevant with music, you are able to see better example while you are listening drummer rhythms.

These are my grids that I used for structure for my works. In the assignment, also we were expected to create a complexity and simplicity. However, we should get references from the assignment 1.3 for these works. To create a complexity, my approaching that issue was like that If the composition have a more relationship and variations than the other composition, we can say it is complex. The reason for this is , we can get much more information in the every parts of composition. In below you can see my works and first one is my references works belongs to assignment 1.3

Overall, I can sincerely say that If we create a composition or model , using  variation of some qualities each other for the different manner. It becomes more meaningful and harmonious.

Section Drawing

The purpose of section drawing is showing inside of the object from different sides.As a result of it, we have more chances in terms of getting more ideas about what really the object is. We were expected to draw a sections of our tape.There two side of section in this drawing.To inform which side we are going to get section, vertical and horizontal lines were drawn on the top side of tape and two small triangles were used to state that which perspectives we should look at tape. The drawing that was placed left and down is giving us information about front aspect of horizontal section.The other drawing is also showing us side aspect of vertical section.The continious lines work is that to comprehend edge line of our object and there are dashlines in order to provide to see other parts that we can not realise of object easily as a whole and understand what is going on in there.There are some parts that were hatched.It means that these parts are the closest part according to us and also it symbolize where we got sections from the object.

 

Orthographic Projection

Studio table was happened that our object to comprehend what the orthographic drawing is.We were expected drawing top, front and side view of studio table and while we are drawing table, using reference line to carry all point and lines correctly were also expected from us.Every details that belongs the studio table should be involved in the drawing on the other hand unless there are details in it, the rate of making mistakes is high.To showing background of the studio table was also expected from us with dashlines and if there is complexity in the background of the table, line weight will has profound role in that case.can The thing that all points in one view should match with their selves in the other views can sincerely say.Overall, there should be no contradiction in itself.

 

First Jury

Extremely exciting, nervous and pleased moments were happened at our jury time.Although before the representing, everyone has exciting and nervous feelings,after the representing we were pleased for our effort and work.We are expected that creating 4 variation with different elements and assemble them with a design operation.

Each of variations have 7 elements and 2 of them have parallel to each other.The other 5 elements were enclosed to these two elements and also 2 of the 5 elements have relation from the same edge in every variation of our constract.When these elements are  arranged as this order,the relationship between 2 elements that neither have same edge quality nor parallelly to each other were kept in every 4 construct to create variation.Thanks to this common parts in every variation, these 4 constructs were combined from them and our construct was revealed.

Design operation that we are expected was shifting distance between 5 elements as mentioned before.New relationships was occurred between elements because of our design operation.In additionally, desingn operation also provided to consist of hierarchy in terms of number of relationships.3 variations that have less qualities than the other which has superiority in terms of quality was combined from common parts of them.However, The dominant variation was assembled differently with its common parts to other 3 elements common parts in order to show its importance and being seems more obvious than the others and also break to 2D vision of our construct.However, changing the size of our elements could be more helpful to comprehend more easily.

Towards a New Architecture

What was happening to old architecture and architects? What was wrong for Corbusier and he has written this book that is ” Towards a New Architecture”?The first chapter of this book was so interesting for me especially to understand notion of beauty.In this book that Le Corbusier has mentioned about perishing gradually old architecture because of the engineers that was in that terms and those systematic thinking ways.Actually , It was explained like a comparison between architects and engineers works and also he has shown us that architects need to get some ideas from engineers approaching to the problems that humanity have.

The necessities of humanity show us how did humanity developed their selves and in every ages there were plenty of engineers that have worked to supply something special to satisfied these necessities.Owing to their works, the information that engineers discovered assembled with other engineers experience and came to our century and in 19th century, engineers are still doing same thing.They focus on the problems that humanity have and try to solve and think on them.All planes , cars and ships are designed of engineers.We can sincerely say that they are designer and they are also an architect like us. When the engineers are doing that, what have architects been doing except duplicate old masterpiece design again? There was something wrong according to Corbusier while all of these was happening in terms of engineers.

Architecture was being vanished almost by engineers and It is so normal because there is connection between universe and engineers.Mathematics,geometry,physics,biology and chemistry causes these connection more stronger.The reason for this is these are special tools to comprehend the rules of universe.We can say easily that engineers are designer because they knows what is about these science and they can reflect harmony of universe.You can say that okay they are able to do that but where is the design of it? Yeah you right however the most interesting thing in this chapter for me is comprehending beauty of something.

Mentality of beauty is coming from nature of humanity and it means that it relevant with the rules of universe.We are able to observe something beautiful.The reason for this is it has some kind of a harmony with the rules of universe and nature of huminty.That’s why, It stems from our inside that we can not know and we like it.Hence, Using these methods like Mathematics, geometry etc. helps to lead to reach mentality of beauty.Maybe you can understand why engineers are designer and architect too.

As I said that architects need to get some ideas from engineers approaching to the problems that humanity have.The main focus point should not duplicate masterpiece works again and again.There are prevalent problems that increasing population and necessities houses.In this case architects do not need to have any talent.They just should have systematic thinking ways like engineers to solve problems.However while they are doing that, they should keep integrity of harmony of universe and when people look at it, they are able to feel satisfaction with all their emotion.It can be happened with math, geometry etc. with other phenomenons that has harmony with the rules of universe.

Triptych in Architectural Photography

Triptych is a composition that is separated into three parts and also it does not mean that to split one composition to there part.It means that to keep connection among the parts and create variations of them was profound because of the integrity. You are able to realize that same of triptych photos have a gap among them.Actually, It is reasonable If there are not exist any specific things that provide continuity.However, in this composition, I have realised that vertical and horizontal lines make continuity.Due to that, gap idea was not appropriate for here.The other vital thing for triptych in architectural photography is lightning. Light is tool to make something more obvious or make them more conceal.Everything is up to you to how do you use it in your composition but the significant thing is that it eliminates plenty of details and you are responsible all of them.It is so beneficial and dangerous.Using filter is unacceptable thing because it causes to changes of natural things to artificial things.The reason to I am saying like that the composition has an originality and reality however, when using filter these quantities are damaged and the composition is seems like liar.

Abstraction with Lines

In this assignment, we were expected to abstract Manhattan  with just lines which we are going to use soft and dark tones.Not only tones of lines but also line quality and line alignment  are significant when it was evaluated.Every lines ought to be aligned and there should not be any distortion on the lines.These quantities have plenty of effect on our instructor assesment.While I was doing that, I have tried to define groups that include same or near colour according to each other and have reflected with same line weight as you see.However, Due to that It was my first drawing assignment, the quality of lines were not satisfied by me.

Are All Designer Composer?

 

 

(Rıt tırı rıt tırı rıt rıt rıt – rat tırı rat tırı tıt tıt tıt) What is this? Has it an any meaning? It was just happened three latter and seven words.There is no meaning and understanding, that is it.However, It is well-known by all people in world and we really do not know why it is sound good and memorable.It is okay but WHY? when I listened this riff, I thought about horse race too like million of people.It gives us an emotion and we feel like that we are in contest or argue.There is effort and timing.

Overall those are just notes however, they have an order each other like seven words three-letter and it is going on that.They have connection each other but everyone does not same.This is variation and we feel emotions as excitement or satisfaction when getting all of these variation together because of human nature.In the studio, we are working on that. We try to design something and represent variation of that to feel emotion of excitement or satisfaction like a composer.
